Where Are the Wild Things?

On October 30th, The Wild Things were in Room 110!
Some of them were busy making monster decorated cupcakes.

While others were making a "Max Snack" to take home: 2 scoops of each -
Cheerios, Fruit Loops, pretzels, marshmellows, M&M's. YUMMY!

Still other Wild Things made crowns so they could be Queen or King of all the Wild Things.

Making a Wild Thing puppet was a alot of fun, too.

Todd's mom, Ms. Jones, helped plan and worked during our Wild Thing Afternoon.
Thanks for all your help, Ms. Jones!

Benjamin's mom, Mrs. Davis, helped the students make their "Max Snacks".

That is scary enough to eat, Tyler!

Austin's mom, Mrs. Bandon, made sure there was plenty of chocolate and candy to decorate the homemade cupcakes!

Laila's dad and brother, Chris, came to enjoy a Wild afternoon.
So did Dante's parents and brother, Dominic, but I forgot to get a picture of them.
Tianna's dad came, too.
The finished products....

What a GREAT afternoon!
Thank you to all the parents for the donations of food, creative supplies, and your time!
The Busy Beavers are so blessed to have very supportive parents!

Kindergarten in October

Ashley, Tyler, Tianna and Tasha worked as a team
to put together the Where the Wild Things Are puzzle during Literacy Center Time.

Ashley is putting together Tiggy Tiger at the Art Center.

Todd put together the whole alphabet using the letter cubes
at the Word Work Center.

Way to go, Julianna! She completed a giant alphabet train puzzle by herself.

Todd is concentrating making a border pattern.

Tianna working on an ABB border pattern at the pocket chart.

Dante, Abby and Pierre are reading independently at the carpet.

Mrs. Amazing (also known as "Mrs. Amy" or "Mrs. Lopiano")
enjoys reading a book to Andrew, Lexi and Joseph.

Independent Reading, girl style.

Reading :)

Teamwork again: Lexi and Todd. Way to go!

Working at the Folder Fun Center are Grayson and Andrew.

We learned about the life cycle of the pumpkin in October by reading books, completing sequencing charts and painting a Pumpkin Life Cycle pumpkin!

Zoo Field Trip

On Friday, October 23rd, we had our first field trip. We went to the Jacksonville Zoo! The giraffe exhibit is a favorite of many of the students because you get to see them so close.
The jaguar exhibit is also talked about by the students...Beauclerc loves the Jaguars! If you look closely at the picture below, you will see one of the jaguars laying on the ground and a second one laying in the wall, with just his tail end showing.

The walk-through bird exhibits are fun. They have a plastic list of birds that you can see in the enclosure with their pictures. It was fun to see how many birds we could identify by using the list. This poor bird had a hurt foot, but was getting by just fine.

We got to see the zoo with all of their Halloween decorations getting ready for the annual Spooktacular, an added bonus for going in October.

A great class photo after our picnic lunch!

The Busy Beavers

Say, "Cheese!"

At the Zoo School, we enjoyed using our 5 senses to learn about several animals and their senses. This hoot owl is a nocturnal animal.

A ball python feels smooth.

This chinchila had the softest fur ever.

A perfect ending to a long day at the zoo...
a nap on the way back to school.
Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to chaperone our trip.
You helped to make it a very special day for all of the students. :)
